PATRIC (Pathosystems Resource Integration Center) represent a bacterial bioinformatics website from the Bioinformatics Resource Center. It is an information system integrating databases with various
types of data about bacterial pathogens (transcriptomic, proteomic, structural, biochemical) together with analysis tools. The tools have been built to automate the entire process of genome assembly and annotation. Being easy to use and less computationally intensive, it helps you get an idea as to how the genome looks like and the important genes present. In this one day workshop, we will go through the fundamentals of whole genome assembly and annotation, what can be inferred from a whole genome assembly, the important genes present in it and also how to obtain the information regarding a metabolic pathway.
